Kaleidosteeple.

A public sculpture commissioned for St Michael’s Place in Croydon, Kaleidosteeple transforms the sky into a shifting kaleidoscope of light and reflection. Inspired by the neighbouring church steeple, it reinterprets the idea of a landmark as a space for gathering, observation, and play. Its mirrored surfaces reflect Croydon’s changing skyline and community, creating a living artwork that evolves with light, weather, and season.

Iron Reef.

A public art commission on the River Yare, Iron Reef celebrates the ecological and industrial heritage of Reedham Ferry and the Norfolk landscape. Built from recycled iron rods that move with the wind, it mimics the reeds surrounding it. The sculpture is amphibious, with a walkway that appears and disappears with the tide, and a bioluminescent path that glows at night. Iron Reef changes with the tides, seasons, day and night, offering something new to experience each visit.

Petrichor.

Petrichor is the central sculpture in the Amber Memorial Garden, commissioned by Amber Crisis Pregnancy Care and located in Chislehurst Cemetery. A living sculpture designed to channel rain and nurture jasmine vines that will gradually grow and weave around its form. The garden is planted so that nothing lies fallow, with ornamental grasses and seasonal blooms creating a peaceful environment for reflection and pause. The installation invites contemplation of life, memory, and renewal, serving as a sanctuary for both people and nature to grow and heal.

“The team really captured the poetic essence of our installation, revealing the sculptural life of Iron Reef.”

— Cristina Morbi, Director, Studio Maetherea.

“Atelier et al. brings to light the quiet drama and materiality of the work, allowing its forms and subtleties to resonate beyond the site and Kaleidosteeple itself.”
